The God Debate – Part 2: Science, Religion and Philosophy

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”19585″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]At the heart of our existence burns a question: ‘Why am I here?’ It is a question each of us must answer if we are to puzzle out our place in the Cosmos. But then why is the Cosmos here, or anything for that matter? Why is there something rather than nothing? Theists say that God is the best explanation of our existence, but is this just a comforting thought or can this claim be supported with evidence? Is there any proof that God exists?

This course aims to familiarize students with the main arguments for God’s existence, their relative strengths and weaknesses, and possible atheist counter-arguments to them. It will look at the contributions made by leading proponents of both theism and atheism and take into account the latest relevant scientific theories.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”More information” style=”custom” custom_background=”#164664″ custom_text=”#ffffff” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fmain.ictestweb.co.uk%2Fstudy%2Fshort-courses%2Fgod-debate%2F|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Milad al-Nabi Event

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”17962″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]The Islamic College cordially invites you to join us for our annual Milad-un-Nabi celebration to mark the birth anniversary of Muhammad (s).  This joyous occasion cherished by Muslims worldwide provides us with the opportunity to stop and reflect on the life and legacy of our blessed Prophet as a revered symbol of Islamic piety and devotion, and bask in the light of his graceful personality. This noble, fully realized human being, a teacher of mankind and a mercy to the whole world is an integral focus point of devotion, admiration and love but also a source of solace, inspiration and fountainhead of unity for the Muslims all over the world.

Every year the Islamic College selects a thematic focus for the celebration, be it one of the Prophets noble character traits, his unique place in the hearts of Muslims, exemplary life he led or the astonishing legacy he left us with. This year we have decided to focus on the concept of freedom and liberation of human kind this extraordinary human being brought about and left behind as one of his most enduring intellectual and spiritual legacies.

Students were invited to contemplate on the following verse of the Holy Qur’an “(Prophet)removes from them their burdens and the shackles that were upon them” (Al-Araf 157) and contextualise it in light of their own introspection on the subject. Islam is a religion of beauty that finds the highest expression of its inner realities in the arts and for that very reason our students were asked to express their contemplation in this format and touch the heart of others using the creative medium of their choice.

We hope that you will grant us the pleasure of your company and give us the opportunity to showcase some of their creative works during the evening replete with reflective scholarly sessions, Qur’anic recitations, Nasheeds and student-led contributions as we celebrate the life of Allah’s Beloved – Muhammad His Servant, His Prophet and His Messenger.

The event will be held at The Islamic College, 133 High Road, Willesden, London, NW10 2SW on Wednesday 28th November 2018 at 6 pm[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
